Sewing room addition

Ever since I moved my sewing space downstairs to the guest bedroom I've been seeing some sort of notice board on the wall to the left of my sewing machine. I knew exactly which fabric to use for the cover, a super cute sewing themed Tilda-fabric from Panduro called Sewingbird labels.

Yesterday, I went into town with the kids and decided to finally get some that fabulous fabric. Lucky me!!! It was on sale!!! Half off, so I treated myself to a whole metre. :)

Isn't the fabric adorable?

It wasn't the first notice board I've made so it took about 15 minutes to cover the board, put the pins and clips on it and put it on the wall.

I think the fabric is gorgeous and I wouldn't mind having it all over the walls in my sewing room. :)

Sewing-wise, I'm waiting for the Tiramisu dress pattern from Cake patterns. I will participate in the Tiramisu 30 minutes a day-sewalong which starts on January 8th. I hope I get my pattern by then. Well, I already have the fabric so all I have to get for the sewalong are the notions.

And yet again, please take part in my 5000 pageviews giveaway!

Until next time,

Johanna

New sewing room

My husband thought I didn't have enough space for my sewing stuff and suggested that I'd take the guest room and make it into a sewing room. I was delighted to get more space and also the possibility to sew in the evenings without waking up the kids (my old sewin space was right outside their rooms). Only time stood in our way and we couldn't organise it until this weekend.

Saturday morning - a trip to IKEA, where we bought a new desk with drawers on the side and a book case and some other stuff like boxes and a mat. I particularly like the book case Hemnes, it's got that romantic vintage look to it. Everything we bought was white or pink, which is my favourite colour. The guest room used  to be a children's room and the wallpaper is pink with a fairytale border mid-wall, so pink goes very well in this room. Let me show you...

Pretty, isn't it? I love it! The space and atmosphere and colours and everything! So much that I had to use it right away and finish my coat, see next post....

Present time

Yesterday (exactly two weeks before my actual birthday) I got my birthday present, my new overlocker! I can't believe how fast it got here, didn't I order it on Thursday and yesterday was Tuesday? That's only 3 working days, because I ordered it in the afternoon!

So, here's what I ordered: The Brother 1034D overlocker, four cones of cream thread and four cones of black thread. All this for £209! P&P was free!

BUT, take a look at this... This is what I got for free!!!!!!

TEN cones of thread, five pairs of scissors, two boxes of sewing machine needles, measuring tape, a seam ripper AND a power adapter (the machine has a UK power plug).

I totally recommend Sewing machines direct. What a great webshop!

Now I only have to figure out my next project so I can start using my new machine!

Bye for now,

Johanna

Where it all happens...

I'm very curious about people's homes. To see how other people think about home decorating and find solutions to space issues and organise (hope I'm making sense). So I think it's interesting to see pictures of other people's sewing spaces, what their creative spaces look like. And here's mine....

Ok , this will be it for tonight!

Bye for now,

Johanna
