Skirt hope
Hello! I just found this skirt pattern that seems fabulous. I have even bought it, after thinking about it for two minutes.
What am I talking about then? Well it's the Everyday skirt from the maker of the Oliver +S patterns. She has a pattern line called Liesl +Co and all of the patterns are so pretty and seem really comfortable. Just the way I like it! :)
I like that it has panels on the side that are smooth, no gathers to make my hips look bigger, that it has pockets and, best of all, it has a elasticated back waistband!! Do you see now why I'm so excited?! :)
I also have a piece of wool tweed (that's what I think it is anyway) that I washed a little too hot and is now a little bit felted. And I think it will make a perfect winter skirt. So tomorrow I will go to the fabric store to pick up some lining fabric and I will make my first ever lined skirt! Excited!

Ideas for autumn/winter sewing
Autumn is closing in, even though the weather isn't making me feel it. We still have warm and sunny weather though the mornings are a bit on the chilly side. One thing to make me feel the autumn coming is all the catalogues with autumn clothing, like H&M or the fabric store Stoff och stil ("Tissue and style").
I got inspired by both of those catalogues and I even ordered some sewing patterns from Stoff och stil:
Other inspiration for my autumn/winter sewing plans comes from the latest issues of Burdastyle magazine, no. 8/2013 and 9/2013.
I do want to use fabric from my stash as much as possible, because I can't afford to buy a lot of new fabric and I have to learn to use what I have and also decrease my stash (I'm starting to have difficulties in where to put new fabric, I don't want to be one of those sewists who has boxes or bags of fabric everywhere).
I have loads of dark blue/navy blue jersey fabric of different qualities (fine jersey, double knit etc.) and that should be something I could use for autumn/winter sewing. But something I would like more of is viscose (rayon?) fabric, I like the drape of viscose for blouses and dresses.
I would also like to be able to make those nice moodboards I see on other people's blogs, like Clotilde. Does anyone have a tip or advice for me on how to do that?
Do you have sewing plans or do you make sewing plans at all? Or are you more of the spontaneous kind?

A ton of bricks
Sorry for not posting in such a long time, but I've started work again after the vacation and it kind of hit me like a ton of bricks. I've been totally knackered each day after work and have only had the energy for the most necessary stuff, like cooking dinner.
I haven't been sewing, obviously, but I did get an order for a giraffe dress from one of friends. She wants a pink one and I've already bought the fabric and cut it, now I only have to sew it up, which I will do this weekend.
Well, I promise to try to be back soon with an FO that I've talked about before.

Adding to my pattern library
A few weeks ago I took the opportunity to order some new Simplicity patterns when sewingpatterns sold them for $1.99 each. The patterns arrived yesterday (that is the downside of ordering from the USA, it takes WEEKS to get them). Here's the haul:
I've been trying to focus on spring sewing, but it's really hard when there's still loads of snow, more coming and the temperature stays constant between 5 and 18 degrees below zero C (23-0 degrees F). Since spring seems a long way away still an because it was snowing yesterday, I decided to cheer myself up and ordered the new Colette pattern, the Laurel dress, and also another Colettte pattern I've wanted for a while, the Violet blouse.
I can't wait for them to come, maybe it will finally be spring when they show up! :)
BTW, if you would like to invest in some new sewing patterns too, sewingpatterns.com has a promotion on McCall's and Burda patternsat the moment, I think (I don't get paid or endorsed by sewingpatterns.com to write this, I just want people to be able to save some money and make some bargains).
What's on your pattern wish list?

Vintage find
I keep reading about other bloggers fantastic finds and bargains from charity shops and flea markets. I keep going to my local charity shops hoping to find something, but in this town they suck big time. Not only are the clothes awful ninties relics but they're also expensive! I don't think a pair of horribly out-dated jeans should cost SEK 100/£10/$15! I never find anything good....
Until today! :)
I found this sixties/seventies shift dress (a style that suits me!), in aqua (one of my fave colours!), in my size (!!!!!!!!!!!!!) for SEK 95/£9,50/$14,50!!! How good can it get?! The only downside is that the dress is 100% polyester, but I guess that's what to expect from that time period. At least the label says it's polyester crepe, which I have never encountered before.
I'm totally psyched that I finally found something good from the charity shop!!! Anyone else who has made a good find this weekend?
Sewing-wise, I just haven't had the time to go on with any projects. The closest I've been to anything sewing-related was this morning when I traced a pattern for a T-shirt from Burdastyle.

P.S. Like so many other sewing-bloggers out there, I have a pet. Surprise! It's a cat!! Just realised I have been holding out on my cutie-pie. So here are some photos to enjoy. Her name is Siri and she's six months old. She's a Devon Rex. (And almost impossible to photograph...)

The light at the end of the tunnel...
This has been (or still is) the worst case of the flu that I have ever had. It started last Friday, today is Saturday NINE DAYS later, and I still don't feel good. Urgh!
The positive thing is that the kids are well and I do see the light at the end of the tunnel, yesterday I actually had some energy to cut out the fabric for my Kirsten kimono tee using a me-made tunic I don't wear. AND I lengthened the pattern for the Burdastyle jersey trousers.
I wear the pair I have a lot, but I'm not 100% happy with them and I want another pair so I've already got me some teal jersey. For the last pair I only lengthened the leg-cuffs, but this time I have lengthened the trousers pieces (the Burdastyle patterns are for women of 168 cm, and I'm 175 cm).
I've also decided to join Erin's of "I heart fabric" Copy cat challenge. Hop on over and see what it's about and maybe join in you too! :) Fortunately there's no time limit on this challenge. My plan is to make another pair of Burdastyle trouser like these (still haven't blogged about my first pair, but it's coming, promise!):
But this time i will make them out of denim and add pockets and stuff to make them more jeans-like. My inspiration is my favourite pair of jeans which I bought last summer.
Anyway, so much for my sewing plans, my first goal is to get rid of this highly annoying and energy-consuming flu.

Sewalong fun!
I really like participating in the fun sewalongs that some of the creative people here in the sewing blogosphere come up with and host. Right now I'm taking part in three sewalongs.
There is the Sew Colette 2.0, which is taking a break right now but will resume in March. I'm really looking forward to that.
Then there is the on-going 30 minutes a day Tiramisu knit dress sewalong. My participation has been very chopped up, but right now I'm in the same stage as everyone else.
And today I read about the fantastic Stashbusting sewalong 2013 and decided to join in! I have committed to use at least six pieces of fabric from my stash this year. This sewalong seems superfun with one theme a month and challenges with prizes! Yay! I'm so in!
I have also committed to some other sewing goals for 2013. I'm in the jar of Karen from didyoumakethat. My sewlution is to sew garments with bound buttonholes, welt pockets, zippered pockets as I want to learn new techniques.

Stuff...
I've finally done some actual sewing today. I write this because it seems I haven't sewn much lately. But I did get some new fabric and patterns.
But first, sewing... Today I completed a muslin for the Ottobre dress I've written about before, it's "the Stitch details dress".
I haven't taken any photos yet of my dress, but hold on, they'll get here... It's a wearable muslin, but I'm not extatic about it. I'm thinking of making it up in some jersey fabric next.
A while ago I actually made a muslin for the skirt I've mentioned from Ottobre, but I never got round to blogging about it. It's "the Aztec skirt", but as with the dress, I'm not totally happy with it.
Ok, now to my new fabric. I got six different fabrics two weeks ago when visiting my sister. One lovely smooth wool fabric, which I pretty much ruined while pre-washing, not so smooth anymore as felted.... Two dark trouser fabrics, three different kinds of dark blue jersey fabric (I know... but there weren't any other colours and blue suits me...). I also celebrated my pay raise by buying even more jersey fabrics, three different kinds, each more than 3 metres.
I have also ordered two new patterns, from Onion this time.
I hope the patternsland in my mailbox tomorrow! I have already fabrics lined up for both of them! Yay!

Coincidence?
A friend at work has recently started selling these wonderful clothes from House of Lola. I like the style and clothes A LOT, but they are quite expensive so I haven't bought any. These are my favourites so far:
These clothes have been on my mind for a while and yesterday when I picked up the new Burda magazine I found these trousers:
Lucky coincidence?! Don't they look very similar to the House of Lola trousers? Mhm, that's what I thought, so why not make those gorgeous trousers myself?!
I have already bought the fabric needed: black cotton jersey and knit ribbing, and I have traced the pattern. We'll see if I have time to do more before the weekend, we're going away to visit one of my sisters and that takes some preparation, packing and stuff. So I'd better aim to finish and show them next week.
BTW, if you live in Sweden and want the Sewaholic patterns, but have hesitated to get them from overseas, they are now available from Fagert.se. Good, huh?!
I'm very much into trousers at the moment, and have found these from Onion, which I'm interested to make in a comfy stretchy fabric:
I'm not a big fan of pleats in the front of the trousers, but I like that the waistband is a little wider (deeper, longer, higher?) and so the pleats are set a little lower. I'm thinking of buying the pattern and use the stretchy black fabric I bought a while ago to use for skinny trousers. What do you think, is this a style you like?

Magazine inspiration - Ottobre
I've been looking like crazy for the latest issue of Swedish sewing magazine Sömnadsmagasinet. I've been to eight (!) places where they should sell it, and they don't have it. I was supposed to get to the stores last Tuseday and I've been looking for it since last Monday without results. Is it sold out? Didn't it reach the stores at all? What has happened? I'm totally lost...
Well, I didn't want to go home empty-handed, so I decided to give the magazine Ottobre Design a shot. And I liked it A LOT! Right now I'm taking a break from tracing patterns to write this post, because I've already decided to make four (!) of their designs. I've traced three and have one more to do. But it is possible I will make even more of the design, because they look really great and comfortable.

Don't they look great?! I thought I'd use fabric from my stash for the dresses and the skirt. But I will buy some black sweatshirt fabric for the cardi. I've already seen some at one of my local fabric stores.
So, I was totally inspired by this magazine and I will definately get the next issue in March.... (Yep, it only comes twice a year...) I hope that someone else will find inspiration in this great magazine too.
