Simplicity 2147 and 2245 - me wearing it!

So, I finally have some pics of me wearing the two dresses I've posted about before, Simplicity 2147 (the non-potatoe sack-version) and Simplicity 2245.

I made my son help me take pictures. He looooves borrowing the camera and taking photos of everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. So far we have photos of my ironing board, the floors, the TV while it's on etc. But he's totally excused because he's only five and totally adorable and not to mention helpful! (I didn't want to ask my husband to take photos, because I suspect that he thinks this blogging business is a bit lame... :)).

Here they are! First the 2147:

And here's the 2245 (I love those pockets):

I must say that blue and green dress is my favourite out of these two.

On another note, I couldn't help myself but had to order the Colette patterns' Ginger skirt yesterday! It cost me a whopping 170 SEK/£17 including P&P. I hope it's worth it and my expactations are high after reading posts on it from LLADYBIRD among others. *Standing by the mailbox 'til the mailman comes*

Well, bye for now,

Johanna

  1. Johanna I love the color block looks! They are awesome! I've got a 5 year old girl who likes taking photos too! They are so cute at this age! I have pattern 2245...it's Lisette's Portfolio tunic etc. I made the blouse in a white linen and it's my faaavvoorite! I like how your tunic turned out. Can't wait to make one! GREAT JOB

  2. Thanks Angela! I'm also thinking of making a blouse of Lisette's Portfolio. It's such a cute model. And good luck with 2147, but just so you know the sizes are pretty big. Off to check out your blog...

  3. Iam super shy when it comes to posting pics...but I belong to the Lisette Patterns blog. My name on there is "sewsewmom" And I did post of my finished projects on Flickr. I think they have a group called sewlisette. I bet you can do a search on there and find my one and only picture submission. It's sewsewmom there too!

    1. Hey! I think I found you on flickr, if it's you in the black Diplomat dress. It looks really good (so do you, so don't be shy:)). It looks like you have gorgeous hair too!

  4. Yep that's me Johanna! I just looked at those pics last night and it appears that the dress is pulling?? It doesn't when I wear it. who knows? I'm currently working on the Maxi Dress version of the Diplomat in some vintage (70's) material I found at a thrift store. I'm short so we will see if it looks right on me! That's so cool that you are a language teacher. I LOVE learning different languages...took French in school (many years ago) and I picked up spanish on my own. Comes in handy where I live. Have a great evening!

    1. Looking forward to see the new dress, let me know when you post pictures on flickr!
I teach English and French at junior high(?) level (the kids are 12-16 years old). I've also taken a few years of Spanish in High school (a looong time ago) and thanks to the french and Spanish I'm able to understand some Italian. Languages are fun!

    1. Thanks! Since I've gotten so many compliments about that dress, I'm thinking of trying to make it in green/yellow too.

  6. I will soon Johanna! I meant to get a picture of it this past weekend..I gotta alot of compliments on mine too..You're lucky you have an Ikea near by so you can get material! My store is more than an hour away...it's my favorite store. I actually asked to go there for my birthday one year! I'm wierd I know. Do you typically make your dresses from cottons? I do, but my store is very limited. Ready to try something new!

    1. I think the Colette patterns are supercute! and the Ginger skirt is so flattering. That is the only pattern I've made so far, but I have the book now, so I will probably make the Meringue skirt soon too. And yes, I prefer cotton when I make clothes, I prefer natural materials, but silk is expensive and linen is often so coarse, so it's mostly cotton. How about you?

  8. I tend to use cottons too, I've been lucky my linens have been kinda soft...bet they were blends of some kind. I was lucky enough to get to the sewing store for a pattern sale. 5 Simplicity patterns for $5! YAY!

    1. So jealous! Patterns for so little... They NEVER have pattern sales in Sweden, EVER! They're always around £9-10 (don't know what it'll be in $). Speaking about cotton, check out my newest dress (Graduation dress), it's made of ordinart cotton, but turned out really soft.
